Moglue provides MoglueBuilder, a Windows/Mac desktop app with a drag-and-drop UI for authors and artists to create interactive ebooks, and MoglueBooks, an iOS store where those books are published. The platform supports images, effects, sounds, animations, background music and per-page voice recordings so creators can make richly interactive children’s books (and other content) without programming. MoglueBuilder has been downloaded by more than 20,000 creators worldwide during its open beta. The company is currently focused on children’s books but says the platform is suitable for educational books, manuals, visual novels and other categories. It has a promotional period during which books must be free for four weeks and free publishing to MoglueBooks runs until this summer. From summer, authors will be able to publish books as individual apps to Google Play and Amazon’s Appstore and will be able to publish directly to the App Store under their own developer accounts. Moglue closed a distribution deal with Kyobo (Korea’s largest book store) to cover the domestic market while it focuses on global growth.
