Overview
Founded by former Disney executive Ben Sherwood and operated in partnership with COO Reed Shaffner, Mojo delivers on-demand coaching support for parents who volunteer to lead youth teams. After a coach inputs player age and skill level, the app produces a full practice agenda that includes professionally filmed drills and activities created with child psychologists and experienced youth coaches. Video content was shot with Mandalay Sports Media, the studio behind "The Last Dance," and many core features are offered free of charge. Mojo intends to monetize through premium subscriptions, starting with complimentary access for nonprofit Coaching Corps volunteers. Although the platform launched with soccer, the team plans to add additional sports over time, excluding tackle football. Sherwood positions the product as a way to simplify the “chaos” of youth sports and support the 500 million children who participate in organized athletics worldwide. The company’s growth is currently funded by an $8 million Series A round backed by high-profile sports and media investors.
