Mojostreet’s first product is a location-based mobile app that lets users check in at points of interest in a game format and earn virtual currency called “Mojo bucks.” The app pairs virtual scavenger-hunt gameplay with real-world offers through partnerships with national retail outlets. At launch the product will be limited to 5.5 million locations in India and will be available on BlackBerry, Nokia, iPhone, and Android devices. The company plans to expand to the U.S. and Singapore shortly after its India launch. Mojostreet will use its seed funding to ramp up hiring and to support a beta launch in early May. Founder Kalyan Manyam previously built Indyarocks.com, which had more than 6 million users, and he cites rapid mobile adoption among India’s roughly 600 million mobile-phone users as a growth tailwind.
