Overview
MoleSense is a Swiss medtech spin-off from EPFL that has created a ‘wear-and-forget’ wearable capable of tracking inflammatory proteins and steroid hormones in real time through sweat analysis. The device delivers continuous molecular data that can help obstetricians detect complications early, balance infection risk versus preterm delivery, and provide proactive, personalized care for high-risk pregnancies. Its platform combines real-time biomarker sensing with biology-aware machine intelligence to generate actionable insights for clinicians. Founders Gian Luca Barbruni and Ata Golparvar leverage expertise in micro- and nano-engineering and wearable tech to target the USD 110 billion women’s healthcare device market. The initial commercial focus is on high-risk pregnancy centers such as CHUV, with an ambition to impact more than eight million pregnancies annually across Europe and the United States. Current efforts are directed toward clinical validation and navigating regulatory pathways. Prior to the latest funding, no other rounds have been disclosed, making the company an early-stage venture still progressing toward market entry.
