Monclarity recently launched Brainwell, a brain-training app that offers 50 games across six cognitive domains (memory, attention, critical thinking, language, visual and problem solving). The app begins with a cognitive fitness test and then recommends games tailored to users' goals; each game includes an explanation of the science behind its design. Monclarity emphasizes combining vetted neuropsychological paradigms with engaging game design, a point stressed by chief scientific officer Elkhonon Goldberg, a neuropsychologist and NYU School of Medicine professor. The company also positions its product against skepticism of brain-training efficacy by citing research on neuroplasticity and cognitive rehabilitation therapy. Brainwell is free for seven days, offers three free games daily, and charges $9.99 per month for full library access. Monclarity announced a $5 million seed funding from Access Industries alongside the app launch.
