MonkeyLearn offers a no-code/low-code AI text-analysis service that lets users upload text (for example, rows in an Excel file) and quickly train models for tasks like support-ticket sorting and sentiment analysis. The company began as a developer-focused API but shifted toward non-developer users after demand from teams that couldn’t code. Today the product centers on data analysis and is offered via a free tier, several paid tiers, add-ons and one-off options. The team plans to add data-visualization features — graphing and dashboard-style outputs — to extend the product beyond raw analysis. Financially, MonkeyLearn raised a $2.2M seed round led by Uncork Capital and Bling Capital and said it could have raised about twice as much but accepted this amount. The new capital will fund a more aggressive go-to-market motion and the buildout of a formal sales team to target mid-market and enterprise customers. MonkeyLearn is a cloud-based AI platform that offers modular, customizable text-mining and classification tools delivered through a web interface and API. Users select or create modules (for example, “Movies, Music & Games”), upload web pages, documents, or emails, or capture direct text feeds via API; the algorithm extracts key features and assigns categories which can be consumed by sites or apps. Models can be customized by users and refined through machine learning to suit industry-specific needs. Cited use cases include ad/content targeting, sentiment analysis of tweets, interest profiling to personalize content, detecting obscenity or bullying, and automated email sorting. The company envisions adding capabilities such as automated summarization in future releases. MonkeyLearn launched a public beta after an April alpha with 300 users and is a one-year-old spinoff of the co-founders' five-year-old AI company Tryolabs; to date it has raised $250,000 from the three co-founders, Uruguay's ANII investment fund, and Eduardo Mangarelli.
