Overview
Mono is a Colombian fintech founded by Salomon Zarruk, Sebastian Ortiz, Juan Camilo Poveda and José Tomás Lobo that provides fully digital business accounts and financial services for startups and small businesses. It operates with a local banking partner in Colombia and offers bank accounts with physical and virtual debit cards, the ability to make and receive wire transfers, and payments. Mono bills itself as the "first bankingless bank" for Latin American entrepreneurs and focuses on automating manual accounting services. By March the company had attracted more than 300 customers, achieved $1 million in total payment volume, and grown to a team of 25 employees. Its current priorities are building a proprietary tech stack and integrating third parties to add accounting features such as taxes and accounts receivable/payable. The company plans to use new funding to expand to other countries including Mexico, Peru, Chile and Brazil.
