Overview

Monumo develops a 3D Generative-AI Technology (3D-GAIT) that automates electric motor design generation, simulation, and evaluation. The company's core product tightly integrates AI algorithms with a motor system simulation pipeline to enable continuous co-design and unlock previously untapped design freedoms in electric drive units. Monumo is initially focused on the electric vehicle market and says the technology can create motor designs 200 times faster than the industry standard. The team of 28 spans automotive engineers, data scientists, physicists, deeptech experts, and entrepreneurs, and the company is based in Cambridge and Coventry. Monumo recently emerged from stealth and closed a £10.5 million seed funding round from angel investors and has now received a £750,000 grant from Innovate UK to accelerate development. It is collaborating with the University of Nottingham's Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Research Group and industry partner hofer powertrain UK to advance motor design optimisation for OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. Monumo develops the Anser™ Engine, a scalable, machine-learning-friendly simulation and optimisation platform that runs more than 10 million simulations in 24 hours to identify optimal electric motor parameters. The company has produced a patented, deeptech-generated design for a switched reluctance motor (SRM) that reportedly reduces torque ripple by 50% across the drive cycle, making motors smoother and quieter. Monumo combines simulation, optimisation and prototype development with a 30-strong multidisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists and PhD researchers. The business emerged from stealth after being founded in 2021 and is based in Cambridge and Coventry. Monumo plans to partner with OEMs and tier-one engineering companies and to design and licence motors to drive commercial adoption. To date the company has raised £10.5m in seed funding from angel investors to support scaling and commercialization.
