MooBella develops a multi‑patented creamery machine that allows consumers to make natural ice cream in less than a minute using a touchscreen with 96 possible combinations in three easy steps. The company moved from research and development to a commercial enterprise after its September 2009 Series A and now has 45 commercial machines installed across a variety of segments. Management plans to expand penetration within core foodservice channels and to continue advancing the underlying technology. Growth targets are focused on the Northeast and on foodservice operations located at colleges, cultural centers, casual restaurants, tourist destinations, museums, airports and other high‑traffic venues. The company is led by President and CEO Bruce Ginsberg. The recent funding will support the stated expansion and technology advancement efforts. MooBella developed a technology that instantaneously aerates, flavors and freezes ice cream into scoops of premium hard ice cream within seconds. The machines are designed to eliminate the frozen supply chain by producing finished scoops on demand. An $18M Series A from W. Health (managed by Inventages) enabled the company to move from research and development into an initial market launch. The company has deployed its first 100 commercial machines as part of that launch. With the completion of the round, MooBella transitioned its corporate structure from MooBella LLC to MooBella, Inc. MooBella is based in Taunton, Massachusetts and plans to launch machines in 100 selective high-traffic locations throughout New England within the next six months.
