Moodstocks develops smartphone image-recognition technology that extracts a unique signature for each image and matches it despite changes in lighting and other variables. The company offers products including Moodstocks Contacts, Moodstocks Shopper and the Moodstocks Notes iPhone app, which lets users check into objects (books, DVDs, posters, wine labels) by taking a photo. The Notes app surfaces notes that other users have written for the same object without relying on barcodes. Founders Dennis Brulé and Cédric Deltheil have been developing the underlying technology for four years. Moodstocks demonstrates matching of different photos of the same item (for example, DVDs) even when the photos are not of the identical physical object. The company has published a demo video and an app download link in connection with its product launch.
