Mooji Meats

3326 Greenmount Ave, Baltimore, MD, 21218-2840, United States

Overview

Mooji Meats is developing 3D printing technology to produce plant-based whole-cut meats that mimic steaks and other cuts rather than ground products. The company leverages printing technology developed by a Harvard SEAS team (linked to co-founder Jochen Mueller) that can print with hundreds of nozzles simultaneously to improve speed and scale. Mooji is a Y Combinator alum and says 70% of the meat market revolves around whole cuts, which motivates its focus. It has clients lined up, including one or two market leaders in Europe and one in the U.S., though it has not named them. The firm hired seven engineers (food scientists and 3D printing engineers) and plans a meat prototype within six months and to bring printers to market in about a year and a half. Financially, Mooji recently closed a seed round to fund lab expansion, hiring, and overhead.
