Moovement sells a plug-and-play cattle-tracking system made up of solar-charged GPS ear tags, a local LoRa radio network and a mobile app. The product was developed over three years of field testing with more than 20 pilot farms and went commercial in September 2020. The company highlights its light-weight, solar-charged ear tags that require no battery replacement and says it currently services a substantial number of beef producers in Australia; its technology has also been used for wildlife monitoring and sheep projects. Moovement was founded within a Rabobank startup acceleration program in 2017 and was spun out as a separate entity by founders Pieter Vogels and Luuk Heuskes in April 2020, initially funded by the founders and a small group of informal investors. The company is based in Utrecht, Netherlands and Brisbane, Australia and has a team of 10. Moovement plans to broaden its customer offering, enhance its platform with new animal behaviour insights, accelerate growth in Australia and expand into the US, Africa and South America.
