Overview
Moshi is a mobile app offering sleep and mindfulness content for children, with nearly 150 pieces of original content and about 80 30-minute bedtime stories written and produced by the company. Each story follows a verse-chorus-score formula and is produced to intentionally lull children (for example, “Mr. Snoodle’s Twilight Train” times train sounds to a child’s average resting heart rate); the app also features celebrity narrations from Goldie Hawn and Sir Patrick Stewart. Parents can build custom playlists or choose themed playlists; six pieces of content are free and the service offers a one-week free trial before charging a $40 annual subscription. Moshi reports more than 100,000 subscribers, 85 million stories played, and a 70% story completion rate. The product originated within Mind Candy (founded by Michael Acton Smith) and launched as Moshi in 2017 under CEO Ian Chambers. The company plans to use financing to develop new features and content with sleep industry experts and scientists and to scale user acquisition through marketing, advertising, and partnerships.
