Motive Drilling Technologies develops the Bit Guidance System, a machine-intelligence platform that provides turn-by-turn downhole bit navigation guidance for optimized directional drilling of horizontal wells. The system leverages algorithms, data analytics, real-time drilling dynamics and economic modeling to continuously balance drilling costs with production impact. Motive says the technology decreases drilling time, improves accuracy and consistency, enhances real-time collaboration, and allows operators to scale the expertise of top directional drillers across multiple rigs. The company was formed within Hunt Energy Enterprises L.L.C., a venture incubator within Hunt Consolidated Inc. Over the last several years the Motive Bit Guidance System has drilled more than 1.4 million feet in over 100 directional wells across major North American unconventional plays. The platform has been issued seven patents with nine more pending.
