MSI (Methylation Sciences) is a Vancouver-based clinical-stage pharmaceutical company developing Strada™ (MSI-195), an oral small-molecule therapy based on S-adenosyl methionine for adjunctive treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). MSI's MSI-195 showed support for clinically significant efficacy in a select group of patients in the MSI Horizon Phase 2 trial and demonstrated no serious adverse events with a favorable side-effect profile relative to marketed antidepressant therapy. The company intends to use new funding to advance MSI-195 into a confirmatory Phase 2B trial. In October 2016 Quark Venture Inc. invested US$30 million through its Global Health Sciences Venture Fund to enable that development. Existing investor Inventages Venture Capital is cited as a backer alongside Quark Venture. MSI focuses on developing products with existing clinical proof of concept for major pharmaceutical markets.
