Overview

mSurvey provides a consumer experience and feedback platform that uses cloud computing connected directly to mobile network operators to deliver structured customer responses to businesses and organisations. The platform enables businesses to connect with and receive structured feedback directly from customers across mobile networks. The company plans to use its latest follow-on investment to expand operations to other African countries and to set up infrastructure in Nigeria. mSurvey was founded in 2012 by Kenfield Griffith and Louis Majanja and maintains offices in Lagos and San Francisco in addition to its Nairobi base. Financially, mSurvey raised a $3.5 million Series A in April last year led by TLcom Capital and has since secured a follow-on investment from Proparco, the amount of which the company has not disclosed. Proparco said its investment is intended to help scale mSurvey’s solution across Africa and cited the quality of the team and the solution as rationale. mSurvey provides a cloud-connected consumer experience and feedback platform that gathers structured feedback directly from customers via mobile network operators, enabling SMS- and voice-based insights without internet. Its flagship offerings include Voice of the Customer, Consumer Wallet and a recently launched customer loyalty management tool NPS. Over the last year the company has engaged with 12 million consumers and has doubled its team. mSurvey serves clients such as Safaricom, Airtel, CNN and Harvard. The startup has offices in Nairobi and San Francisco and recently opened offices in Lagos. It plans to use new funding to expand into additional African markets, with a target launch in South Africa within six to eight months. mSurvey provides a mobile-first research platform that leverages SMS and mobile messaging technology to enable real-time conversations at scale. The platform connects clients directly to people anywhere on any topic, serving customers in telecommunications, health, academic research and business. Its client list includes Safaricom, McKinsey, Airtel, Harvard University, Acumen and Digicel. mSurvey collects data from populations in Kenya, the Philippines, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti, with plans for continued global rollout. Headquartered in Nairobi, the company also maintains regional offices in San Francisco and Trinidad and Tobago. The company says it will use the new funds to expand operations and increase adoption of its service.
