mu-ray.tech is a deep-tech venture founded by researchers from DESY and CERN to commercialise Muon Beam Imaging (MBI) built on Laser Plasma Accelerator technology. Its scanners harness naturally ultra-penetrative muon radiation, combined with advanced sensors and AI, to reveal both structure and elemental composition inside dense objects. Target markets span defence, aerospace, automotive production and MRO, as well as safer medical imaging for children, pregnant patients, and early cancer detection. The company operates close to prospective customers in Hamburg, while its software and AI team is being assembled in Tallinn to tap Estonia’s engineering talent.
