Overview
Multiplicom NV develops, produces and sells genetic tests based on innovative molecular diagnostic technologies. Formed in 2010 as a spin-off of the University of Antwerp and VIB, the company is led by CEO Dirk Pollet and is based in Niel, Belgium. Its tests are used to identify increased genetic risk for disease, detect congenital defects early, and help select the most suitable therapies for patients. Multiplicom received CE certification in 2012 for a test that detects genetic defects indicating increased risk of ovarian or breast cancer. For research applications it sells kits for cystic fibrosis, bowel cancer, heart failure, kidney disease and muscle disease. In 2013 the company planned to introduce a new series of kits to detect DNA mutations in cancerous tissue. Multiplicom is a molecular diagnostics company spun out of the Jurgen Del-Favero lab at VIB and the University of Antwerp where its core Multiplexer™ technology was developed. The company develops, manufactures and commercializes molecular genetic tests that assess genetic disease risk, enable early detection of congenital defects, and help identify appropriate therapies. Led by CEO Dirk Pollet, Multiplicom focuses initially on direct sales in Western European countries while appointing distributors elsewhere. The company intends to use new funding to develop innovative diagnostic tests, secure CE-marking for assays, and build a sales network across the European Union. Multiplicom is based in Niel, Belgium and targets commercialization of its diagnostic assays in the EU market.
