Murfie operates a platform that lets users buy, sell and trade their media collections in both physical and digital formats. Launched in 2011 and based in Madison, Wis., the company has built a catalogue of more than 120,000 CDs and over 4,000 customers. It is adding about 1,000 to 2,000 new CDs per day. The company recently closed a $1.4M funding round to support growth. Murfie intends to use the capital for marketing initiatives and to scale up its technical infrastructure. It has also been selected for the TechStars Winter 2012 Boston program, which provides additional seed funding, mentorship and the opportunity to pitch for further investment.
