Muscle Food is a UK-based healthy-eating company that sells lean meats, high-protein foods, sports supplements and own-branded products, including meats, seafood, eggs and snacks. Founded in 2013 by CEO Darren Beale, it also offers "Live Clean" meal boxes that have been delivered to over half a million homes across Britain. The company has expanded into retail, beginning to sell products — including Protein Pizza, the UK’s fifth largest pizza brand — in Sainsbury’s and planning to launch in Morrisons. Sales reached £45m in the year to 31 March 2017, up from £14m in 2015. Muscle Food received a £10m investment from BGF, which has taken a minority equity stake. The funding will be used to establish a second base in Europe and develop the group’s online platform.
