Mustbin

76 Summer Street Suite 410, Boston, Massachusetts, 02110, United States

Overview

Mustbin is a mobile-first app for organizing personal documents by turning photos into well-organized collections such as Wallet, Home, and Car. The app offers guides for importing specific file types (insurance cards, bank statements, receipts, immunization records) and adds collaboration via Bin Sharing. Mustbin encrypts content with AES-256, uses end-to-end encryption during cloud sync, and stores encrypted data on Amazon S3 so engineers cannot access user files. The company recently added Secure Messages (end-to-end encrypted, archived in-app) and Bin Sharing with commenting and liking to expand beyond strictly personal use. Mustbin reports “thousands of users” organizing “tens of thousands” of documents. The additional funding will be used to accelerate growth over the next year to 18 months. Mustbin is an iPhone application that helps users organize and secure a wide range of personal information—passwords, financial records, home and vehicle info, health and medical documents—into categorized "bins." The app provides pre-made folders with guides and suggested actions to walk users through collecting and organizing items, and allows sharing of bins with trusted family members or advisors. Data is encrypted on device, in transit, and on Mustbin's servers using RSA and AES; encryption keys are owned by users and the system has been verified by a third-party security analysis firm. Mustbin offers 1 GB of free storage, subscription options for additional space (pricing TBD), and referral-based bonuses. The seven-person company was founded nearly a year ago by Brian Shin (CEO) and lists Satyender Mahajan as VP of Engineering; it is based in Boston. The iPhone app is live today, with plans for Android, desktop and iPad versions in the works.
