Overview
Muzik builds smart over-ear headphones that integrate four customizable hot keys and motion sensors to enable one-touch social sharing and other contextual controls. The headphones ship with Muzik Connect for Android and iOS and a developer platform released under an open-source license so third-party apps can use the device’s smart features. Out of the box the device can tweet the current track, share to Facebook, save tracks to a favorites list, or send texts/emails via a user-set speed dial; motion sensors can trigger functions like auto shutoff. The hardware is aluminum with memory-foam ear cups and is priced at $299, with a ship date ahead of the holidays. Muzik demoed prototypes at CES last year, then spent another year refining the product before this launch. The company has raised an additional $10 million to help bring the product to market; Jason Hardi is founder and CEO.
