Myceen is an Estonia-based company specializing in mycelium-based building materials intended to be carbon-negative. The company has expanded from the design sector into building materials with R&D focused on mass-scale applications and industrial production technology. Over the past year it has shipped products to over 15 countries, including the United States and Singapore, and has received positive recognition for product quality. This year Myceen secured over €2 million in grants to support commercialization and is advancing a €1–1.5 million seed investment round to fund growth. The company plans to move into a pilot factory to develop industrial production processes and scale its insulation and other building components. Myceen will have its insulation tested in a pilot house developed with the Timber Architecture Research Center (PAKK), with comparative results against conventional materials expected in autumn 2024. Several house producers and resellers have already expressed interest, positioning Myceen to contribute to more sustainable, circular construction practices.
