MYOCENE
Quai Banning 6, Liège, 4000, Belgium
Overview
Myocene has developed an AI-based device that computes a muscle fatigue index in about two minutes. The system uses a dedicated algorithm to analyse measurements obtained via electrostimulation for force sensors and very controlled muscle contractions. The device can be used indoors and outdoors to help top-level athletes and coaches manage fatigue, adapt training and rest periods, and reduce risks of overtraining and injury. Since the prior round in March 2023 the company has signed contracts with clubs including OGC Nice, Sporting Club Braga and Paris Saint-Germain; more than 850 sportsmen and women have used it and over 10,500 measurements were taken, and the device has been tested by almost 1,500 athletes. Myocene raised €3 million in funding that was partly equity/capital and partly a convertible loan; investors include InvestSud, Wallonie Entreprendre, Belgian public investor Noshaq and the historical founders. The company plans to use the funds to accelerate commercialisation in Europe and to launch in the US in 2025. Myocene develops sports-technology devices that leverage patented algorithms and AI to measure athletes’ muscle fatigue and performance. Its products are designed to help teams and athletes better design training, avoid overtraining and reduce accidents tied to long-term muscular fatigue. The company is led by Dr Pierre Rigaux, Chairman and Founder. Myocene completed a €2M bridge funding round comprised of capital and a convertible loan. Backers included Wallonie Entreprendre, Noshaq and the company’s historical founders. The firm intends to use the funds to finalize a market-ready product expected mid-2024.
