MyoPowers Medical Technologies is a Swiss medical device startup developing proprietary artificial muscle technology to treat sphincter dysfunction and severe incontinences. The company’s initial product focus is artificial muscles for the treatment of severe incontinences, built on founders’ surgical and vascular-medicine experience. MyoPowers has finalized its management team, received ISO 13485:2003 certification, and strengthened its board of directors. It is preparing for clinical trials to obtain a CE mark in Europe and intends to use new funding to bring its technology to the European market. The company was founded by Dr Piergiorgio Tozzi and Professor Daniel Hayoz of CHUV and the Cantonal Hospital of Fribourg. Since a May 2010 Series A of CHF 5 million, MyoPowers has continued to advance its development and regulatory preparations.
