MYR GmbH, based in Burgwedel (Hannover), Germany, is developing Myrcludex, a viral entry inhibitor targeting chronic hepatitis B and D. The company holds worldwide exclusive product rights for Myrcludex and is developing the lead compound in collaboration with the University Clinic Heidelberg. MYR has shown preclinical efficacy of Myrcludex against HDV. It currently employs two people and is led on the science side by CSO Dr. Alexander Alexandrov, coordinating a network of academic partners and vendors. MYR received funding to begin Phase 1 clinical development, with the Phase 1 trial in healthy volunteers planned for summer 2011 and a proof-of-concept Phase 2 start targeted for 2012.
