mySupermarket is a grocery comparison shopping service that lets consumers compare a product or an entire cart across multiple retailers. The service covers nine major UK retailers — Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, Ocado, Sainsburys, Boots, Superdrug, Majestic and Virgin Wines — and allows users to quickly swap products to the cheapest retailer. It trawls about 30,000 special offers every week, says customers can cut their bills by up to 20%, and reports 2 million monthly unique users in the UK with sales growing 100% year-on-year. The company has offices in London, New York, Tel Aviv and Tokyo and has been in business since 2006. Following the new investment, mySupermarket plans to extend digital capabilities and marketing services for packaged-goods clients and to leverage consumer data for future campaigns. WPP’s digital agencies, including Wunderman and OgilvyOne, are expected to work closely with mySupermarket to connect offers directly with consumers as part of larger digital campaigns. mySupermarket operates an online grocery comparison service that can compare single items and whole shopping carts across four leading UK supermarket chains (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Ocado and ASDA). The company has classified roughly 100,000 grocery products and uses algorithmic rules, weightings and relationships to match identical and similar items. It was founded in 2006 and now averages about one million unique monthly users. Leadership has shifted as Allon Bloch has been appointed CEO while founder Amir Ofer remains with the company as President. Management says the product roadmap will leverage a "tremendous data layer" of user behavior to roll out service enhancements. Financially, the company has raised a total of $21.4M to date, including the latest round.
