Founded in April 2025 by former Freecharge CEO Jason Kothari, Mythik aims to adapt and globalize Eastern mythology, folktales and history using advanced technologies including AI and virtual production. The founding team includes former senior executives from Disney, Netflix, Amazon Studios, Jio and Tencent. The company is based in Mumbai and employs roughly 200 people across product, technology, content and design. Mythik recently completed a $5 million extension to a $15 million funding round, giving it a post-money valuation above $50 million. Investors in the extension include Harsh Jain, Rajat Gupta and Blume Founders Fund among others. Kothari previously acquired and sold Valiant Entertainment for $100 million in 2018, a detail highlighted in reporting on the startup.
