myWebRoom provides users with customizable "WebRooms"—digital rooms that display interchangeable, clickable items that link to websites, search engines and other online content. The product mixes social features (friends, Facebook invites), bookmarking and visual self-expression to serve as a personalized web portal. The company monetization plan is to have brands pay to place their items inside users' WebRooms. During beta myWebRoom accumulated 35,000 registered users and approximately 25,000 monthly hits, and the company says it aims for 100,000 registered users by the end of the year. The startup just dropped its beta tag as it exits testing. Fresh capital gives it runway to scale, but the company must prove product-market fit and grow quickly to attract brand advertising dollars.
