nÿcha kombucha produces fermented green tea kombucha and is led by founder Patrick Switzer, a former downhill-skateboard world champion originally from Canada. The company sold a quarter-million bottles last year, produces over 7,000 liters per month, and its products are available in more than 800 stores and through 30 partners including Coop, Alnatura and Drinks of the World. Customers also include restaurants and sports centers. To fund growth the company sought CHF175,000 in exchange for 10% equity, but founder Switzer owns only 33% of the company while two silent partners hold the remaining two-thirds. Investor Felix Bertram offered CHF175,000 for 15% and Switzer accepted; another investor, Lukas Speiser, declined due to the shareholder structure. The agreement with Bertram is in final negotiations and the capital is intended primarily to build a sales team and to prepare expansion into nearby European markets such as Germany and France by increasing production capacity, distribution and marketing.
