Nabobil is a Norwegian peer-to-peer car rental marketplace that opened four months ago. The platform lets private car owners rent out vehicles hourly or daily to neighbours, with owners retaining 80% of rental income and the company taking 20% to cover insurance, administrative costs and margin. Nabobil provides insurance through a partner to eliminate owner risk and offers renters a virtual garage of cars across genres. Typical users average 34 years old and often do not own a car, with renters ranging from the 23-year minimum up to 65 and older; prices are on average about 50% less than traditional car rental companies. The new capital will be used to expand into an additional country and to release a mobile app. The company has also hired Even Heggernes from Airbnb to bolster its team; Nabobil means "neighbor's car" in Norwegian.
