Naborly
207 Adelaide St E, Suite 302, Toronto, ON, M5A 1M8, Canada
Overview
Naborly offers a free platform that lets landlords screen tenants before they move in and enables tenants to build credit by paying rent. The company was founded in 2016 by Dylan Lenz and graduated Y Combinator the prior year. Naborly announced the U.S. and Canada-wide launch of NaborlyShield, a digital service that guarantees rental income and lease terms for landlords and tenants. NaborlyShield can pay rent if a tenant defaults, offers tenants flexible and low-interest payment options to avoid eviction, and can handle the full eviction process in worst-case scenarios. The company serves more than 850,000 rental units across the U.S. and Canada and has offices in San Francisco and Toronto. Naborly closed a $7.5M seed funding round. Naborly provides landlords with customizable tenant applications and an API that automatically compiles comprehensive tenant dossiers. Its ML-backed system analyzes over 500 data points — including social media, credit, rental history and web data — to generate tenant scores and predict risks such as late rent or roommate conflicts. The service is live and charges $59 for a single-tenant report and $149 per year for up to five units. Naborly reports revenue of roughly $2,000 per day and is adding about 20–50 new landlords daily. The company is working with credit companies to add more data and improve tenant ratings. Founders Dylan Lenz, Zeke Kan and Anastasia Fox launched the product after Lenz experienced a costly bad-tenant incident that inspired the company.
