Overview
Nanom (previously Greenvolt) develops nanoparticle additives intended to dramatically improve existing nickel-iron and lithium-ion batteries. The company claims its process can add 9x energy density, recharging rates, and lifecycle capabilities without major changes to battery manufacturing. Implementation is described as mixing nanoparticles into the battery chemical slurry, and the effect is said to be even more pronounced in modern lithium-ion cells. In prototyping, Nanom built an electric boat whose hull acted as the energy storage device; the company says 15 metres of that construction would store the equivalent energy of five Teslas. Nanom has emerged from stealth and positions the technology as a route to turn structures (walls, hulls) into safe, green energy storage. Financially, the company has raised $3 million in seed funding to advance prototyping and deployment.
