NanoPowers develops artificial muscle technology aimed at restoring or improving muscle function. Its lead product, ARTUS, is an innovative artificial urinary sphincter designed to treat severe incontinences. The company will use the CHF5m Series A proceeds to finalize development of ARTUS and initiate the first clinical studies. The CHF5m (approximately $4.5m) round was led by Novartis Venture Funds, with participation from Initiative Capital Romandie and Gran Plasa SA. NanoPowers is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, and was founded by Piergiorgio Tozzi, MD, who serves as chairman, and Professor Daniel Hayoz, who is a director.
