DeferPanic is developing an orchestration platform that commercializes and simplifies unikernels for general use. The product abstracts unikernels down to the bare minimum OS components (typically only network and disk drivers) and offers a click-to-deploy orchestration tool. CEO Ian Eyberg says the platform can run legacy applications and enable 100–200 unikernels per host, allowing thousands to be spun up on low-end servers. The unikernel design isolates a single application and prevents execution of other code, which the company positions as a security advantage. DeferPanic is launching its unikernel orchestration tool and announcing the funding at the RSA security conference while coming out of the Alchemist Accelerator. The company just closed a $1.5M seed round at a $6M post-money valuation.
