NantPharma, a NantWorks company, produces high-quality biologically derived pharmaceuticals and operates drug manufacturing and research facilities around the United States. Its product focus includes critical care injectable and oncological drugs. In January 2012 the company announced the acquisition and redevelopment of a former Pfizer facility in Terre Haute, Indiana, committing $85.5 million to produce those injectable and oncology drugs. The new plant was expected to become operational in 2015. The company is led by Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, who previously founded APP Pharmaceuticals and Abraxis Bioscience. Financially, Blackstone has invested $125 million in NantPharma and Blackstone executives will join the company's board.
