Founded in 2010, Nara develops AI-driven personalization and recommendation technology and is best known for its Nara.me product. The company recently launched Naralogics.com, a platform-as-a-service that lets businesses use their existing data and web data to provide recommendations and insights into user behavior and engagement. Customers such as online publishers and retailers can use the platform to surface more relevant content, offers and recommendations, and email marketers can automatically personalize messages. Nara says both Nara.me and the platform receive active development and benefit from each other. The company has raised a total of $13 million to date and plans to use new financing to expand its capabilities. Leadership updates include the recent appointment of Jana Eggers as president and the addition of Dr. Mriganka Sur to the advisory board. Nara is a Boston-based startup building a personalized recommendation platform that is launching with restaurant recommendations in a limited number of U.S. cities. The company uses neural network algorithms it calls the "Nara Neural Network" and creates a "digital DNA" profile to automate, personalize and curate web content for users. New users start by naming three restaurants they like and then up- or down-voting other restaurants, allowing the system to profile preferences quickly. Nara is coming out of stealth, was founded in 2010 by CEO Thomas Copeman, and currently has 18 employees. The company raised a $4 million Series A led by Peter de Roetth and other angel investors. Nara plans to expand its recommendation systems beyond restaurants to cover more topics and ultimately aims to analyze the wider web to filter information based on individual user interests.
