Narwhal develops Nx, an open-source monorepo-focused build system and toolchain for JavaScript teams, plus Nx Cloud (hosted) and an enterprise edition. Nx uses project graphs and is inspired by Google's Bazel, offering distributed computation and task caching to reduce build and test time across large repositories. The company helps enterprises migrate to and manage monorepos — clients include Capital One, large banks, airlines and a major retail customer that saves over 40,000 compute hours per month through Nx's distributed caching. Narwhal began as an Angular consulting shop founded by ex-Google Angular team members Jeff Cross (CEO) and Victor Savkin (CTO) and has expanded into product and hosted services. It currently has just over 30 employees, including 25 engineers, and offers private-instance deployments for enterprise customers requiring isolation from external APIs. Narwhal recently assumed stewardship of Lerna.js to provide critical bug fixes and security updates and announced a seed funding round to support its commercial expansion.
