Natural Motion
Travemünde, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
Overview
Natural Motion is a San Francisco mobile-game publisher that develops games and an in-house physics/AI engine called Euphoria. The company builds both original titles and licensed games, and has used Euphoria in Backbreaker and in licensed work such as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. It has published consumer hits including My Horse (2011) and CSR Racing; CSR Racing is reported to generate $12 million in revenue per month. Natural Motion spent roughly a decade developing the Clumsy Ninja character and demoed it onstage at Apple’s iPhone 5 event. Management says the company is using lessons from each title to improve monetization and gameplay loops. The firm recently raised capital to accelerate its push to become the No. 1 iOS game company, citing competition from Electronic Arts, Zynga, Epic Games, Gameloft, and Glu Mobile.
