NearDesk operates a UK-wide marketplace that lets users book desks and meeting space by the hour at different locations. Users pay only for time spent using a member card and companies receive a single monthly invoice rather than multiple bills. The service appeals mostly to freelancers and independents. NearDesk aims to compete with rivals such as YourWorkspaces, LiquidSpace, HandyForWork, WorkSnug and ShareDesk by using a revenue-sharing business model with venues. Financially, NearDesk ran an equity crowd financing on Seedrs that originally targeted £600k but raised just over £1M, breaking the Seedrs platform record. Over 500 investors participated in the round, with the largest single investment at £75k.
