Nebula Biocides

Brandteichstraße 20, Greifswald, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, 17489, Germany

Overview

Nebula Biocides, founded in 2019 as a spin‑off from the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP), develops the Sporosan® disinfection process based on peroxynitrite acid. The product uses two starting components that react briefly to produce a highly disinfecting effect that the company says is effective against bacteria, viruses and resistant bacterial spores. Nebula positions Sporosan® as both environmentally friendly and gentle in use, with particular potential to prevent infections from Clostridioides difficile. The team of five is pursuing two parallel regulatory and commercialization paths: approval of Sporosan® as a biocidal product and development of sporicidal reprocessing solutions for medical devices. With a strategic industrial partner already engaged, the company expects a medical‑device market launch in 2024 and aims for biocidal product availability for hand and surface disinfection by around 2028. The recent seed financing is being used to fund the studies required for regulatory compliance and broader commercialization.
