Overview

Needl is a cross-platform application that lets users search across their local file system and connected accounts such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Notion and Slack. The product is available on the web, Windows and Mac, with a free tier that allows a single account per integration and a $10/month tier that enables more account connections and additional integrations like Jira and Linear. Needl launched a closed beta in August with around 200 users and has moved to a public beta. The founders — Max Keenan, Angela Liu and James Liu — began writing code in June while in Y Combinator's Summer 2022 cohort and built the app to solve siloed information across apps. Over the next 12 months the company plans to improve contextual and semantic search using large language models and add premium integrations such as Asana, HubSpot and Salesforce. Needl positions itself as a faster, self-serve alternative to enterprise search vendors, touting a setup time under two minutes.
