Neggst
Bizetstraße 54, Berlin, 13088, Germany
Overview
Neggst, founded in 2021 in Berlin and developed by Veronica Garcia-Arteaga during research at the Fraunhofer Institute, makes a plant-based egg that mimics a chicken egg's shell, yolk and white. The product aims to match the nutritional values, taste, appearance and functional diversity of hen's eggs, built on two years of research and complex processing. Initial capital and development support came from industry partners Zentis, Ehrmann and Fraunhofer IVV. Neggst has secured over €5 million in seed funding led by Green Generation Fund, with strategic investors including BayWa, RWZ and Corecam, plus several notable business angels. Pilot projects with food-service partners are already underway and the company plans future grocery-store availability. Investors position the product as a sustainable alternative, and Green Generation Fund estimates it could help cut approximately one percent of global CO2 emissions through resource-efficient production.
