Nemesis Bioscience

Building B270, Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, CB22 3AT, United Kingdom

Overview

Nemesis Bioscience is a Cambridge and Cardiff–based developer advancing Bacterial Cybergenetics technologies to resurrect antimicrobial therapies compromised by increasing microbial resistance. Its product suite includes Nemesis Symbiotics, aimed at reversing antibiotic resistance, and Transmids for clinical, veterinary and industrial delivery. The company’s Cybergenetics technologies use modified, multiplexed programmable RNA-guided endonucleases; the first has been shown to inactivate resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics by targeting eight families of beta-lactamases, including ESBLs, carbapenemases and metallo-beta-lactamases. Nemesis sees large opportunities in the antibiotic, wound care and veterinary medicine markets. Founded in March 2014, the company intends to use the funds from its recent seed raise to validate its suite of technologies. It raised over £700k in the seed round led by The Rainbow Seed Fund with Finance Wales and Dr Mark McCamish as co-investors.
