Neoplants

47 Rue du Docteur Léonce Basset, Saint-Ouen, Seine-Saint-Denis, 93400, France

Overview

Neoplants designs genetically modified houseplants (its first product is the Neo P1) that produce enzymes to metabolize volatile organic compounds such as formaldehyde and BTEX. The Neo P1 works together with a proprietary microbiome in the soil; customers must add the company’s microbiome “powerdrops” regularly to maintain VOC remediation. The Neo P1 converts formaldehyde into fructose and BTEX compounds into amino acids the plant can reuse. Neoplants creates its own plant shoots and has partnered with industrial gardening firms to grow the plants at production sites. The company planned preorders in Q1 2023 and will sell a Neo P1 package (plant, a pot with an air‑intake basket, and three months of microbiome) for $179. After four years of research, Neoplants aims to apply its processes to other plant varieties and begin work on carbon capture and storage next year.
