Overview
Neos is a London-based connected home insurance company that integrates smart home sensors and HD camera technology into its insurance premium to proactively protect homes from fire, water damage and theft. The technology detects risks, sends real-time updates to customers' smartphones, and is backed by a 24/7 UK emergency assistance team and a tradesperson network to arrange fixes. Co-founded by insurance expert Matt Poll and home automation expert Krystian Zajac, Neos provides the devices as part of its insurance offering. The company raised £5M in a Series A to accelerate growth. Munich Re will provide underwriting capacity via a managing general agent agreement, and the company has an exclusive partnership with ZPG plc and backing from Gary Lineker. Neos is developing a platform for homeowners that combines smart-home protection, 24/7 emergency assistance and monitoring, and comprehensive insurance. The insurance component is backed by Hiscox, and the service is priced at the level of a traditional insurance policy plus a small monthly service charge. Led by CEO Matt Poll, CTO Krystian Zajac and CPO Daniel Knight, Neos plans to use the new capital for product development and an early-2017 launch. The company raised more than £1m in seed funding from individual backers. Investors named in the round include Gary Lineker, Steve Broughton, Richard King and Barry Smith. Barry Smith has joined Neos’ board of directors as chair.
