Neovacs

3-5 Impasse Reille, Paris, Ile-de-France, 75014, France

Overview

Neovacs is focused on an active immunotherapy platform (Kinoids) and is developing IFN Kinoid, a therapeutic vaccine for autoimmune diseases including lupus and dermatomyositis. The company holds proprietary technology covered by five patent families with potential protection through 2032 and conducts preclinical work in oncology and allergies. Neovacs is advancing a Phase IIb trial of IFN Kinoid in lupus and is preparing to scale production from clinical batches to industrial scale. The firm plans a production site near Paris, intends to retain control of manufacturing and expects to create 50–100 skilled jobs long term. Neovacs signed a licensing agreement with CKD Pharmaceuticals for South Korea and expects CKD commercial sales possibly from 2018 while continuing to use its current clinical‑batch manufacturer for that market. The company was created in 1993 and operates from Paris (announcement also referenced Boston). Neovacs develops therapeutic vaccines using its Kinoïde technology to induce a polyclonal immune response for treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Its lead program is IFNalpha‑Kinoïde, being developed for lupus and dermatomyositis, and the company also conducts preclinical work on vaccines for other autoimmune diseases, cancers and allergies. Neovacs plans a phase IIb IFNalpha‑Kinoïde study in lupus across Europe, Asia and Latin America starting in the second half of 2015, and a subsequent phase IIa study in the U.S. beginning about six months after the phase IIb. The company highlights patent protection across five families of patents potentially through 2032. Neovacs is listed on Alternext Paris (ALNEV) and is eligible for the PEA‑PME plan. The recent fundraising is intended to finance the clinical development plan for IFNalpha‑Kinoïde.
