Overview
San Diego-based NeoVolta develops lithium-ion battery energy storage systems (BESS) for homes and small-to-mid-sized commercial customers. The firm is broadening its scope through a joint venture, NeoVolta Power, with system integrator PotisEdge and solar giant Longi to manufacture battery packs and full BESS solutions in Georgia. The plant is slated to start mass production by mid-2026 with an initial 2 GWh annual capacity, expandable to 8 GWh, and is structured to qualify for Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credits as well as domestic-content incentives. Management estimates that at $200/kWh, full utilisation of the first 2 GWh line could represent roughly $400 million in annual revenue, though they caution this is only illustrative. NeoVolta has committed to fund the plant in three phases totaling $25 million (already completing an initial $7 million tranche) with an option for up to $15 million of additional capital through mid-2027. The company believes the new facility will enable it to enter larger C&I and utility-scale markets while supporting continued growth in its core residential segment. Recent fundraising has substantially reduced near-term capital risk and provided working capital to execute these expansion plans.
