Overview

Nerdio provides a cloud-native platform, including Nerdio Manager for Enterprise, that helps businesses deploy and manage Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows applications, and optimize cloud costs via automation and auto-scaling. The company positions itself as a modern alternative to legacy virtual desktop vendors and targets organizations adopting remote and hybrid work. Nerdio spun out of IT-as-a-service company Adar in 2020 and is Chicago-based. Its customer roster includes PayPal, Sony, and Comcast. The company currently has about 300 employees and says it will significantly grow headcount to scale global presence and build customer support and engineering teams. Nerdio plans to use recent funding to enhance its product lineup across Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, and Microsoft 365. Nerdio builds a platform that lets customers deploy, manage and cost-optimize virtual desktops running in Microsoft Azure, extending the native capabilities of Azure Virtual Desktop with auto-scaling, license optimization, security, monitoring and reporting. The company spun out from Adar in January 2020 after Adar was sold to a private equity firm; founders Vadim Vladimirskiy and Joseph Landes contributed to Nerdio’s first funding round in February 2020. Proceeds from the latest round will be used for customer acquisition, product R&D and hiring. Between February 2020 and the time of the article, Nerdio reported a 2,000% increase in annual recurring revenue and now serves more than 5,000 customers with over 1,000 channel partners. Nerdio has a close working relationship with Microsoft, including Microsoft veterans on its board and regular inclusion in Microsoft marketing materials. The company is based in Skokie, Illinois, currently employs around 100 people and plans to roughly double headcount next year. Nerdio provides Nerdio for Azure, an automation solution that helps managed service providers and IT professionals deploy, package, price, manage, cost-optimize, and secure Microsoft Azure environments. Its product set includes support for Windows Virtual Desktop and aims to make moves to Azure seamless for channel partners. The company evolved from an MSP to offering a private cloud business and is now focused entirely on Azure. Nerdio plans to use its new funding to drive product development, roll out additional Windows Virtual Desktop functionality, expand internationally, and add ecosystem partnerships while reinforcing support offerings. Leadership, including CEO Vadim Vladimirskiy and CRO Joseph Landes, are financially invested in the company and actively engaging channel partners. The company recently raised an $8 million Series A to support these initiatives.
