Overview
NetDragon’s online education arm operates a web- and mobile-accessible learning platform targeted at students from kindergarten through senior high school. The subsidiary was launched in January 2014 as a joint venture between NetDragon, private equity firm Vision Knight Capital, and Foxteq (owned by Foxconn). The platform is positioned to serve demand for extra college‑entrance exam preparation and alternative pedagogies in China’s fast‑growing online education market. NetDragon says it can leverage its existing infrastructure and mobile/gaming expertise developed building properties such as 17173.com and the 91 Wireless app store. Financially, the unit was recently valued at $477.5 million following a new financing. Company leadership has framed the business as aiming to build a mobile educational product that drives repeat learning engagement.
